Sportswear: My Style Inspiration

So, i was thinking of doing posts about general photos that inspire me for the week. Right now i am loving the sporty trend, with leather sweats and luxe sweatshirts to tracksuits and running shoes and such.Even before tracksuits and varsity jackets ( and Tommy Hilfiger's 2014 s/s collection) hit the runway,  I've loved sporty clothing, It always made me feel bold yet low-maintenance.

I am inspired by vintage 90's highschool cheerleader costumes, the olympics, and yoga.  Sports and school go hand in hand, because teams and such are such a big part of the school experience. They still remind me of hot, summer days that I'd spend with friends, lounging around in our backyards doing nothing. (The irony of sportswear...)

I do not claim to own any of these photos (:

Brogues: My Most Coveted Shoes For this Fall!

Whenever shoes caught my attention on the runways for spring/summer, they were brogues or oxfords. To me, they are the hottest shoe trend for this year. I've never really beena  fan of oxfords because they seem like a false, girly-washed form of brogues. Brogues seem to be actual boy shoes rather than something that's trying to copy the style, and I'm into real  things that aren't mimicking other things. (I don't like purposely ripped, new denim...I like to live in my denim till its washed out and ripped , you know?) I absolutely adore brogues. Here are some of my favourites!

Brogues are one of the biggest shoe trends for 2014. I picked out some for (almost) any outfit you could wear. Brogues are so classic; and now they are being produced in refreshing new ways that I wonder how no one could have thought to make brogues like this before.

This black holographic brogue is a killer. It looks like petroleum on a road on a rainy night; and although I've been trying to cancel out the black form my closet, i feel this shoe would be wroth buying.

This are silver, yet not so shiny that they'll only go with a single article of clothing in your closet, and look ludicrous when worn with anything else. I feel these will highlight a nice tan perfectly, and will make almost any outfit bolder. Also a nice way to embrace the metallic trend If you felt like you couldn't pull off something like, say, a silver skater skirt.

I think that if you really like a certain type of shoe, you must buy it in nude form. (More on that on my next post.) This brogue is classic, yet the liquid like shiny finish gives it a very understated, muted look without blending in too much.

Why have i not thought of a velvet brogue? Honestly. It's a winning combination; so vintage, and this pink is so soft and feminine, It's like a grunge flower girl. The velvet gives it a unique texture, and this shoe is freaking gorgeous. I don't know how many things this will go with, but honestly, I think that's the beauty of grunge. My favourite shoe from this list!

These. The perfect way to incorporate the impossible-seeming transparent trend into your wardrobe. It's perfectly balanced; the white, the clear part, and the black band across. And  I've seen it so many times online, so It's clear I'm not the only one who's obsessed with this!
And It's the perfect minimalistic shoe. It goes with everything as well.

I know these aren't brogues but they're sort of in the same category, so you know.

I don't know where or with what I will wear with these. They are such attention-grabbers! But at the same time, so understated and simple. These shoes demand to been seen and praised. Imagine walking into a room with these on! They're super classic and this type of shoe flatters the calf like nothing else. (Or that's what i think, anyway).

I have other shoe trends that I really love, and i will have another shoe post soon. I just have a bunch of stuff going on right now so I apologize for this short post!
Thanks for reading!

Black Skinnies: Aren't you sick of them? There's other options!

Black skinny jeans are universally flattering, extremely versatile, and always in style.

They are the go to item for curvy girls, thin girls, and just about any age. they're the item you wear nearly every day of the week with nearly every top that you own, because they''re just so easy to wear. Every one has  a pair, and they're super trendy as well.

They're sort of the uniform staple of nearly every girl ever, stylish and unstylish alike.

Basically, they make you just like everyone else.

So naturally I try to avoid wearing them as much as possible. I want to have personal style that stands out and is exclusively my own. If you don't, that's totally all right, but admittedly we all need a break from our usual uniform of black now and then.

Here are some alternatives to the black skinny jean.
I tried to find alternatives to the classic black skinny jean, Here is what I looked for;
-Pants that fit snug and flattered leg shape
-Pants that were very versatile, went with almost any colour/style/and other aspects of other items worn
-Pants that were extremely  casual, didn't scream for attention, and:
-Other pants that were somewhat dramatic, but still wearable
-Pants that went with almost any style (bright, dramatic, reserved, glam etc)

Here you go!
                                                                 1. Red Velvet Pants

These may be for the slightly more daring, but at night these look almost black and have a nice deep red sheen on them in lit areas.

                                                            2. Navy blue Velvet Leggings
These are pretty basic. Very similar to black skinnies, but they have a nice dark blue sheen to them, and I feel they'd be very flattering with almost anything.

3. Deep forest Green Pants

These are also velvet, but basically my point is any dark skinnies that aren't in black but i different colours that are very dark.

4. Navy Disco Pants

These blue ones were some of the easier to wear ones form all the lighter colours I found. these are super futuristic as well, which is in trend right now.

                                                                 5. Black Disco Pants

Probably the closest thing to black skinnies here. These are more interesting than just plain black pants; they're shiny! super flattering too. I first got into them because of Zoella, they're like an updated version of classic skinnies.

6. Leather Skinnies

Edgy, and flattering with ANYTHING. They're very much like disco pants, but not quite. Try different colours like red, blue, tan, etc. Will give  a fresh new look to any outfit.

7. White Leather Leggings

I know, white is included in "colours of leather pants" as I said above, ut I felt they needed their own category. I really like these leather ones with the seam down the front, but really shite skinnies would be great too. I just thought white leather was a super cool texture to update outfits with.

I also adore these grey leather ones!

                                                                7. Holographic Leggings

this is a wearable version of the trend, because as much as i love silver holographic pants, I don't think I could pull them off with my confidence level ( haha). These, I absolutely adore. Wear these with even a old black tee and you'd look glamorous.

                                                                   8. Skinny Sweatpants

I chose these grey ones, but really black or white is just as basic and flattering. Skinny sweatpants, vs usual sweats, will match baggier tops as well. (You know; tight top, loose pants; loose top, tight pants look crazy good together?) plus, they're so casually sporty which is super hot at the moment!

9. Sporty Leggings

This is a very nice example because It's not neon pink & green screaming "I'm a hardcore athlete!" , no, these are just very minimalistic ones that will go with so many other things. The black/ white is flattering as well, and these are super classy  even though they're athletic leggings (I didn't even know that was possible).

10. Skinny Trousers

A more classy, dressier and preppier option to skinny jeans. These are VERY flattering, and I;m in love with the crease. Personally, These make me feel like I'm some sort of exclusive millionaire or something.

                                                                11. Tan Skinnies

THESE!! Super preppy, and super classy. they go with EVERYTHING. Sorry for the caps; but every girls needs a pair. For me, I use a rule of thumb as to never haven tan pants match my skin tone. I feel a couple shades darker is much classier.

12. The Boyfriend Cropped Jean

Pale, distressed ugly boyfriend cropped jeans are super in right now, and if you get a plainer pair then they'll last you through many seasons, i feel so. Everyone should own these as well. They relax an outfit, and are the staple of every fashion blogger these days.

If you don't want to wear any of the above options, and still want a fresher look with black skinnies, just cuff them! For something a little more unique, you could roughly chop off a few inches form the ankles.

Which one of these will you try? Will you stick with black skinnies anyway? Want to know where tan item is from? Any other black skinny jean substitutes? Chat me up in the comments below--It makes my day! (:

Love you,
Andie
